Mgunda glad with players’ force

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA interim Coach Juma Mgunda has hailed the maturity of his players as the driving force behind their victorious clash against Tabora United.

Following their impressive performance, Mgunda stressed the significance of their upcoming match against Azam FC, highlighting its key role in determining their league position as the season approaches climax.

“The maturity of my players is the key to our victory against the Bees. I am satisfied with their performance of my players and their commitment in securing three crucial points,” explained Mgunda.

Simba emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Tabora United at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Monday night, solidifying their standing in the league.

With the win, the Reds have now accumulated 53 points from 24 games played, maintaining their third position in the league standing, trailing behind Young Africans and Azam who occupy the first and second slots respectively.

Looking ahead, Mgunda emphasized that in their upcoming matches, they will leave no stone unturned as they look to climb up the standings.

“The matches are still tough, with teams competing aggressively to finish the league in favorable positions,” he added.

On the other hand, Tabora United find themselves still struggling in the relegation zone, sitting in the 15th position with 23 points from 25 outings, having failed to secure a win in their last five encounters.

Tabora United’s Head Coach, Masoud Djuma attributed their 2-0 defeat to defensive errors made by his players, expressing confidence in their ability to bounce back in their next matches.

“Small mistakes made by the players led to our loss. However, we remain hopeful and resilient, believing we will achieve our goals,” explained Djuma.

As the league season approaches its end, Coastal Union are currently in fourth place with 33 points from 25 games, and cannot afford to be satisfied mathematically.

With three teams at the bottom of the league Tabora United, Mashujaa, and Geita Gold potentially reaching 33 points, the competition remains aggressive.

Simba’s next challenge awaits them against secondplaced Azam FC on May 9, while Tabora United’s next game will see them face off Mtibwa Sugar from Morogoro, who are also battling to avoid relegation.
